Leman Russ

Just a few pictures of my leman russ test painting. I used a black and red primer at the same time and 3 different foundations spread randomly around the tank to hopefully get different effects from the colouring but it really didn't have too much of an effect. Looks alright though, better than basic grey.

I need to get a real camera, my phone really sucks at taking pictures, cant even get a decent color contrast on it. All red turns up orange....

The truth

Infantry IG list??!?!!?!?!?!

So after having 3 games now played I've noticed that IG infantry sucks in low numbers, what a suprise regular old humans vs super soldiers/xenos/demons?

So with a little research into various strategies and combined with my little expierence, I came up with a new list for my IG but all infantry?????

Lists goes as follows

HQ: (225 points)
Commanding Officer

Elite: (110 points) Stormtrooper Squad

So after reading that your probably like WTF MATE?!!??!?!

After some research I found this list is quite cheap for the 3 basic game types, now how you ask? Let me explain:

1. SHIT TONS OF BODIES
 Yes a shit ton, and since you have a shit ton thats a lot to stop from walking across the board. Theres over 100 men in each platoon so no objective is unable to be contested by 100 men if your playing only 2 objectives. If your playing 3 or more just send your conscripts towards the objects and blob your infantry squads into 1 50 man squard to move at the next. That covers 4 objectives with 50 men each. On the subject of blobbing you can do so to reduce kill points. According to many different FAQ and forum lookups blobbed squads AKA 5 10 man infantry squads can be combined as 1 50 man squad before the game. 1 50 man squad only counts as 1 killpoint..... PROFIT!

2. SO MUCH FIRING
Yes so much shooting is done by a ton of infantry so not much can live through that. For example 50 conscripts within range of 1 target squad. 50 shots requiring at 5+ can land a few then whatever to wound can be worked out. In the end a few should land without a problem. Now take your 50 man infantry blob with a 4+ to hit and wounding with lascannons, plasma, melta, and missle launchers mixed in and THATS ALOT OF HURT

3. SO CHEAP
As mentioned about, 5 ten men squads of infantry and be blobbed together before the game as a 50 man squad that counts as 1 kill point. (This works like a squadron of vehicles where they only count a 1 KP) Remember once blobbed, they can NOT be unblobbed during that game. ALTHOUGH 50 men doing First Rank, Fire, Second Rank, Fire means MULTIPLE SHOTS    Example: enemy up to 12 is hit with 3 shots instead of 2. If the unit did not move it can fire 2 shots at 24 away instead of 1. Just think.... 50 x 3 = 150!??!!?!?  150 4+(5+ for conscripts) to hit and probably another 4+ to wound. That should be a shit ton of wounds.

4. In reality
So check this, say we have 50 conscripts shooting at an Eldar Avatar at 24 away with first rank/second rank fire order and did not move. 100 shots at a 5+ to hit....   we'll say 25 hit and then only 6 wound. Thats 6 wounds on an avatar which if he's not fortuned theres a chance he could be brought down by not rolling enough saves. Now thats against a 6 toughness monstrous enemy which the order, bring it down could occur but thats just a shit ton more hits in the avatar.

So let's move onto a squad of marines. we'll say they're less than 12 inches away same order as the last example. Except 150 shots at a 5+ to hit we'll be nice and say 40-50 hit and 10-20 wound. These numbers add up quickly.

So imagine attacking this squad.... 50 men vs a squad of marines. They'll can't kill all of them in one shooting phase and assaulting them would be the only chance they would have to kill them mainly by making them retreat then die from falling off the table or something.

Basically use your imagination for the rest of the shit behind this idea.

Well this is bout everything I have assembled not counting 1 leman russ, 1 valk, 1 manticore, 1 sentinel, and about all my steel legion guys SINCE METAL IS ANNOYING AS FUCK. You can see the pile of 40 steel legion punks on the right.

Be advised pictures are from a camera phone so the colors aren't exactly as pictured.




Also only a few things are slightly painted although nothing is in any real detail yet since I'm still learning different painting techniques while shaking all about..

Basic camo style

A little tutorial on a camo painting pattern I found. I really like what he did but I'm not much of a blob guy and always been a sucker for tiger and digital styles...
